Welcome
Welcome to the Guernsey Romanian Aid Appeal Website which gives details of the work of this registered charity. Our MissionThe Guernsey Romanian Aid Appeal is a registered charity and a member of the Guernsey Charities Association. It has been operating since 1990 and our first trip to Romania taking much needed goods was on October 4th of that year. Since that date, 21trips have been undertaken. For much of that time we have been transporting humanitarian aid to Gatai in eastern Romania. We have seen many changes in the structure of the country, some good, some not so good. We have always endeavoured to support the children in whatever project we found ourselves involved with. Our direction is now changing from transporting huge amounts of aid to a financial type of support. The Guernsey Romanian Aid Appeal was ten years old in 2000 and on 30th September 2000, celebrated this important milestone by welcoming to Guernsey Pastor Ovi Ghita from Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Galati and his wife and children. This was the first trip outside of Romania for their children and was paid for by specific fund raising events.
