10th Anniversary Celebration
Celebrating 10 years of support for the people of Romania especially Pastor Ovi at Holy Trinity GalatiThe Guernsey Romanian Aid Appeal is ten years old and on 30th September 2000, celebrated this important milestone by welcoming to Guernsey Pastor Ovi Ghita from Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Galati and his wife and children. This was the first trip outside of Romania for their children and was paid for by specific fund raising events. The celebration included a Ploughman's and Pudding Supper and fascinating film and slides from several of the 16 trips made to Romania with food and other essential goods led by Stuart and Wendy Wilson. The audience of supporters were thrilled to see the work that has been done in the areas of Bacau, Ungereni, Gisteni and Galati. Many of the people who have helped with the Appeal including the drivers who have driven vans to Romania packed with goods, were there. The evening was concluded with a short selection of Christian songs from the Island Churches Guernsey Festival Chorus. On 1st October Ovi and his family attended Holy Trinity Church Guernsey to meet the many friends who have contributed towards the needs of the church in Galati. They will be in Guernsey for a week, as guests of Stuart and Wendy Wilson.
